What is the difference between SNMP fetcher and SNMP trap collector and what should i use to get health information using SNMP?
Page 1 / 1
The difference is that SNMP Fetcher as the name goes fetches SNMP information while SNMP Trap Collector collect the SNMP Traps.
You would typically use fetchers for getting the health related information. Fetchers will give you the data even if the values are in normal state.
SNMP Traps work like alert mechanisms, meaning if certain objects value matches certain criteria like; cpu utilization hits 90%, then SNMP Traps are generated and forwarded.
However, it would be fine to use both fetchers as well as collector for a same device. And also note that using fetchers will require you to know the OIDs exposed.
